Shawn practices in the Intellectual Property, Patent Division, and International Law Groups. His practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law including litigation, licensing and patent prosecution. Shawn’s patent prosecution experience includes coatings and chemical compositions, including organic polymers and pre-polymers. His prosecution experience also includes preparing and prosecuting applications for fibers and fiber reinforced articles, welding and repair devices and methods, business methods and optical devices. Shawn has also assisted clients in defending charges of patent infringement and conducting due diligence analyses for licensing and acquisition of intellectual property.
His intellectual property litigation experience includes:
- Represented a major dental equipment manufacturer in defense of patent claim brought by patent licensing company pertaining to a method of manufacturing a certain type of dental restoration
- Represented a construction supply company defending design patent infringement and related trade dress claims pertaining to brick wall construction supplies, resulting in favorable settlement
- Represented a home inspection business alleging copyright and related violations, resulting in consent order for permanent injunction
- Defended multiple copyright actions related to architectural works
- Defended car washer equipment distributor in patent infringement action resulting in favorable settlement
