Harrisburg/Scranton, PA – McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC is pleased to welcome labor and employment attorneys Jennifer LaPorta Baker and Jennifer J. Walsh to the firm's new office in Scranton, PA. Both attorneys currently practice management-side labor and employment law in the Scranton area.
"McNees is very excited to welcome Jennifer LaPorta Baker back to the firm. Jennifer worked as an associate with the firm early in her career," said Brian Jackson, Co-Chair of the McNees Labor and Employment group. "She and Jennifer Walsh have established an excellent rapport with their clients as counselors and advisors within the field."
Jennifer LaPorta Baker has exclusively represented management in labor and employment matters since her admission to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1995. Jennifer provides preventative counseling, training, policy development, and human resource compliance assistance on a myriad of employment, labor and immigration matters including wage and hour compliance, social media policies and practices, sexual and other forms of discriminatory harassment and retaliation, equal employment opportunity and fair employment practices, performance management, ADA, FMLA, hiring and termination practices, I-9/immigration compliance, workplace privacy and positive employee relations/union avoidance. She drafts and reviews contracts, agreements and manuals such as employment agreements, executive contracts, severance agreements, non-compete and other post-termination agreements, employee handbooks and managerial manuals. Jennifer conducts human resource compliance audits to assist in organizational development and as an effective overall risk management strategy. She regularly provides interactive training for supervisors, in-house counsel and human resource professionals and is a frequent speaker at human resource, business and legal conferences. Jennifer received a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Communications from Ithaca College, and her Juris Doctor degree from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law. She also provides training as well as advice and counseling to management on a range of labor and employment law issues, policies and practices, including social media and privacy, discrimination and harassment, retaliation, protected leaves, wage and hour, non-compete agreements, and separation agreements. The firm's decision to open the Scranton office was an obvious one based on the high quality of these attorneys. The new office also provides clients with another centrally located venue to access McNees attorneys. The addition of these attorneys is also very fortuitous for McNees clients as the firm will soon host its 22nd annual labor and employment seminar in June, which draws nearly 300 Managers and HR professionals each year.
