McNees 75th Anniversary - In The Community, Press Release

Harrisburg, PA – In celebrating its 75th anniversary, McNees established a monthly goal of 75 hours donated to select organizations. McNees is pleased to announce that attorneys and staff far exceeded their target by volunteering a total of 132 hours to Dress for Success South Central Pennsylvania, Inc. (DFSSCPA) on Saturday, February 20. The event was the second in a monthly charitable and civic activity project the firm began in January in celebration of its 75th anniversary.

One organization has been selected for each month throughout the year and the firm’s more than 240 personnel will have an opportunity to volunteer or otherwise support that organization. Some projects will focus on financial support, while many will require active participation.

For February's project, more than 25 McNees personnel came together to assist DFSSCPA Founder and Executive Director, Ruth Koup, in unpacking and sorting close to 400 suits that had been donated by Mary Kay; pairing the sorted suits with tops to create an outfit; setting up the new RFID inventory system and tagging all of the scrubs with that new system; cleaning the basement so it can be put to use as a storage area and for clearance sales; installing locks on lockers so volunteers have a place to store their valuables while at the boutique; installing shelving in the dock area; and reorganizing finished outfits on display racks. And for those personnel who couldn't volunteer in person, donations of clothing and accessories were collected and delivered on Saturday.

McNees is also proud to participate in DFSSCPA's 2010 "Party For A Cause" Fundraising Campaign, which is intended to raise funds and spread the word about DFSSCPA's mission. In return for a minimum $5 donation, McNees attorneys and staff could opt to "dress down" on Friday, February 26. The $560.00 that was raised for this cause will go directly to DFSSCPA's new program services including computer classes and the expansion of its Career Center, all of which are free to the women who are referred to the program.
